Diary Writing - Expressing Yourself

DIARY is a five-letter word that means nothing but writing everything down that happens daily. How hard could it be? everyone can do it, right? Is it really useful? Why should I write a diary? These questions popped into my mind when I got my first diary as a gift. Unlike many, I have kept a proper diary for 1 and a half years. It surprised many when I told them this fact, but I never found it so amusing. Malala Yousufzai, Anne Frank, Leonardo da Vinci, Winston Churchill, and many others wrote a diary. Anne Frank's diary is also one of the most-read books in this world. If they can do it, why not us?
Writing a diary is much harder than it sounds. When we think about it, we only think about writing a page daily, at night time, and thinking about the wonderful moments of the day. Actually, it is much harder. Many times, you are really tired, and you can hardly get yourself to do it. Many times, you would have a sleepover and you may not have your diary.
I got my diary when I was 12 years old. A gift from my parents. I promised them, but more than that to myself that I will write it daily. It was all-good-to-go the first week but the next week, I couldn’t get myself to do it. I kept on thinking that
‘I can do it tomorrow.’’
I will fill it up this coming Sunday….’
But I knew I was making false promises to myself. Though I missed 3-4 days of writing daily, I had completed a month of writing daily. I had made up my mind to write it forever and thought nothing could stop me. But my good spirit was broken by another question,
“is it really worth it’
Though my thought was not worth it, the answer is worth it.
I didn’t have a proper answer then. I just kept it as an option to think about it. but now, I have an appropriate answer.
After writing a diary for around 547 days, unrealizing, I have a proper track of things that have been happening throughout my life. If you ask me, I can tell the exact number of times I have fallen down, how many tests I have given last year, or even the number of times I have fallen ill. In the end, it is really worth it!!!
Writing a diary, more for yourself than for others can be useful. You can write a diary on your smartphone or you can even record yourself instead.

At the end of the day, diary is a friend who will never talk back to you but will always be there to listen to you

The other ways to express yourself are given below

1. Public Speaking
