Ethnic Wear Part 2 (Desi Girl Era)

The college season has officially settled in. We’re also expecting festivities to begin later next month. Thus, I thought this would be the perfect time to upload a part 2 to the desi wear blog. Furthermore, I absolutely love making these collections!

This time, we’ll take a step ahead by applying the pieces we learned about previously to daily life. The last blog was concentrated on Indian wear. Now, we’re stepping into indo-western ideas. This involves mixing up closet basics with Indian wear. We would love to inspire college ootds, a date outfit or even a party look with the following suggestions.

1. White – Tee Obsessions:

My white T-shirt is the most worn article in my closet. I could survive on nearly every occasion with a white T-shirt.

For the outfits below, I have paired them with a comfortable pair of Indian pyjamas. They are breathable and easy-breezy. This particular pair of bottoms has been stolen from a kurta set. A pretty embroidered bag, a pair of kolhapuris and colourful accessories will bring this vacation-esque look together.

You could apply this technique as a way to re-use your co-ords. Try pairing it with palazzos or skirts. It tones down the overall look and gives a new feel to your ethnic wear. A white button-down is undoubtedly worth a try for a more chic look. We saw the satin shirt ethnic wear trend rage all over Instagram. The white T-shirt substitutes it for casual purposes.

2. Black Dress Amplified ( My favourite one ):

Your bandhani dupatta can be worn outside of Navratri too! A basic black slip dress with a red dupatta looks ravishing for a day out. Pair it with the right pair of jhumkas and a convenient bag to tie the look together. Some oxfords would really make the outfit stand out. Otherwise, black boots or sneakers match perfectly well.

You may drape the dupatta like a scarf or style it like a cape.

Steps to make a cape out of a dupatta (Inspired by 2016 Facebook videos!):

1. Find the horizontal centre of the fabric

2. Bring the two ends of that side to the centre.

3. Pin the two ends to the centre

4. You’ll have two armholes to slide into your newly made cape! (cue superhero music)

3. Shrug it up!

A basic outfit could be made so much more enjoyable with an ethnic jacket. This is a perfect example of how simple it is to stand out without making a statement. Embracing your roots doesn’t have to be loud. It can be clever, chic and thus unique.

a. A Gujrati jacket is only bought out on garba nights. I suggest carrying it off on a brunch with the girls. Denim and white tops with juttis and jhumkas can bring life to your ensemble.

b. A good old dupatta will have a similar effect on your basics. 2-states inspired outfits are the talk of the town.

Excellent Emerald

Blouses, a typical Indian garment, are adorned by women of all ages. Modern fashion has brought a creative boom to these tops. Cuts, fringes, capes- you name it, we have it!
Utilising a blouse is difficult for several reasons. Commonly, it's covered by the saree pallu or dupatta. That's when the blazer comes in. Blazers are an outstanding piece of garment. It gives a defining flare to the most simple outfits. It acts as the perfect jacket, maintaining the refinement of the blouse.
