How NOT to be bored: Fashion & Beauty edition

HOW NOT TO GET BORED: beauty and fashion edition

If you’re constantly bored and want to do something interesting, you’ve come to the right place! This one, however, is for teenagers who are interested in the fields of beauty and fashion. Sometimes these activities can also be done during your breaks during studying when you don’t want to step out, or just even as is.

  1. Organizing your closet:

*eye roll* It might be a tedious task, but hear me out. Other than cleaning up, organizing your closet will help you figure out your style, help you declutter your space, will give you space to shop some more, and will kill your boredom! You might end up finding pieces that you adore and the ones you’d like to toss out.

Extra tip: Instead of throwing the items you don’t enjoy having, please feel free to donate, sell,or give them to loved ones.

If you are unsure about how to start, check this blog out: https://sunflower-ness.blogspot.com/2021/06/tips-for-cleaning-up-organization.html

  1. Pinterest is your best friend! :

  1. Checking out the latest trends and finding what you’re attracted to on Pinterest is a wonderful pass-time. I mean, you get to please your eyes with a well-put-together outfit, and it gives you inspiration too! Add them to your boards and this will help you out when you need some fashion-inspo for an upcoming event.

  2. You can also go on e-commerce websites to check out what’s selling to get more perspective on the styles that are in demand.

  1. Going Online:

  1. Looking for thrift shops, or new clothing outlets available around your location is also a great way to use up your time. Although, BEWARE, you might get into this and forget your tasks for the rest of the day.

  2. You can find the copy of the Zara top you saw and get it on thrift stores, as it’s a more sustainable option.

  3. There are several apps where you can help out people with their style queries and this might actually make use of your fashion sense!

  1. Styling:

  1. This one is pretty obvious. Styling your existing clothes for the next workday, college day, party, visits to the mall etc. is very fun and helpful. You can plan the outfits for the upcoming week and label the clothing hangers with the day or date to make them more functional.

  2. If you’re willing to, go style your family members' outfits if they have an upcoming event, but we won’t recommend doing that without their consent.

  1. Learning more:

  1.  Go on the internet and learn new tips and tricks! You’ll find some on Sunflower as well.

  2. Try out those funky hacks about turning your scarf into a top and see how it works on your body type. Study the patterns and fabrics that attract you and how you can personalize that aspect.

  3. Embroidery is a skill that you might like to learn as it adds a personal touch to all your outfits. Such skills not only keep you occupied but also give your clothes a personalized makeover.

Beauty:

  1. Trying out looks:

    1. Whether it is a winged liner, or a complex smokey eye, the trick to mastering these is just practicing. You won’t understand the right way of mastering your makeup look without constantly trying it out. So when you're bored, get your makeup bag right in front of a mirror, around a well-lit place, and get started! Don’t get worried about the mess, what are makeup removers for?

    2. If you’ve already got the basics right, get on with new innovative and creative looks. Don't Shy away from bright eyeliners and dark lipsticks. But, for teens out there, please don’t use too much cosmetics and get rid of the makeup right after a few selfies, we don’t want to harm your skin. Also, don’t tug on your skin, just use micellar water or a cleansing balm, followed by a face wash, you’ll be good to go!

  1. Cleaning up:

After your fun sesh with all the makeup, we want you to clean your brushes. This will save you from the hassle of cleaning them the next time you need them. There are various tutorials on how to clean makeup brushes, but we trust hand soap and water. It’s easy, accessible, and not very messy. Reminder: Please be gentle, you don’t want to pull out any bristles, and don’t forget to dry those babies up!

  1. Painting your nails:

This doesn't require any explanation :) Although I’d like to point out, that if you’re free, try out different nail art on different nails and figure out what suits you best. Don’t forget to tag us when you try them out!

  1. Face masks:

This one has to be my favourite! Masking would give you soft, fresh, baby skin and occupy you for a looong time, especially if you make your mask from scratch. My favourite recipes include ubtans, as they are extremely easy to make, and leave a beautiful glow on the face, and the best part, anyone can use it, LITERALLY anyone from kids to older people. Check out PC’s recipe right here: Priyanka Chopra's Guide to Skincare | Little Black Book | Harper's BAZAAR

  1. Tossing out:

Getting rid of all your expired makeup products is super beneficial and would help you realise the junk you’ve accumulated over the years. Please check the back of your product with this symbol.

This is the lasting period of commonly used products

Lip products: one to two years

Base products: a year to a year and a half

Mascara and eyeliner: 6months maximum

Most cream products: 12 months

Most powder products: 18 months

Hope we helped out in bidding goodbye to boredom. If you want to check out more ideas, not necessarily from the same topic, check out these: ( coming soon)
