How to prevent stress
Having stress is quite normal for students. Sometimes students may be overwhelmed by the amount of school work and may procrastinate. In my opinion, the main way to prevent stress is Time Management. Managing time for all activities is important. We should have enough time to study and at the same time have enough time to spend time with family and friends and other hobbies.
Procrastination may increase stress. If you keep procrastinating all your work will just pile up and you will end up worried about all the work. No one wants that, so it is important to have a proper schedule. If you don’t like to make timetables, that's okay. Instead you can choose specific time slots to study/ work.
Balancing your study and hobby time is super important. You shouldn’t study all the time but for most of your schedule. Your schedule should also have a specific time for hobbies. It can be as less as 15 mins to 1 hour (depending on your studies to be completed).
Spending time with family is the most important. You should take a generous amount of time from your schedule to just sit with your parents or siblings. Even talking to your parents helps prevent stress A LOT, even friends for that matter.
Its a well known fact that exercise also prevents stress and keeps you healthy. Exercising regularly is great to keep you healthy. It also prevents stress and keeps you fresh. Eating healthy is also great to keep you healthy
I would like to emphasise on the time management more. In order to have a good schedule, an effective timetable which suits you the best.
I had read a way to make timetables and it just makes sense. The steps are as follows
Review your daily routine
Block out your daily eating time for all meals
Block out the times you usually study or work
In the remaining time, If you feel you need to study more, add some study time here and there. If the study time is okay according to you, add your hobbies and family in the remaining time
This kind of timetable is just a bit of modification to your daily routine. It’s ok if you don’t feel like doing anything once in a while. If you still want to do something but don't have the motivation for it, ask a friend or sibling or parent to motivate you. It's effective, trust me. Taking a break and just relaxing also helps to prevent stress. But not if you have a ton of work and you have to submit it the other day. Hehe.
Feeling that you have had a productive day is great. In order to achieve that feeling, make a small to-do list everyday before you sleep. Keep this list concise and achievable. If you have done everything on this list the next day, give yourself a small treat like a candy or something that you like.
