Customized Makeup routine!

For a lot of us, makeup is where we derive confidence. In my opinion, I don't think it should be used as a shield, but your reason is totally respected. I personally enjoy make-up simply because of its amusing nature. The techniques fascinate me. However, you can indulge in this world even if you don't have a reason!!

Women and girls all around the world have been exploring the art of makeup and learning more with passing time. Not only the ladies but also every gender on planet earth has gotten familiar with the art form. The world has observed several trends and survived the questionable ones. But the trend of a subtle makeup look is here to stay.

Back to our beauty and fashion segments, this time we talk about "No makeup" makeup looks. They may sound ridiculous, but their idea is to achieve an effortlessly fresh and alive look. The reason I say that this trend will resist any change is because of its versatility. A lot of us enjoy experimenting, but we shall have a backup look. The objective of a "No Makeup" Makeup look is to be there for you. Anytime you wish to wear makeup, but because of lack of time you can't, this sort of look comes in handy. When nothing goes with your outfit, this look won't betray you. It's the sure short way for glam!

But no YouTube tutorial call truly show what you're make-up look should look like. The best way to find it is through a clear analysis. This blog will help you do just that. We will walk through a few easy steps and by the end of this blog, you shall find the top five makeup steps that you will need, irrespective of circumstance.

Things to know:

Taking care of your skin is a priority. It eliminates half of the layers you might apply to hide a silly pimple. So keeping your skin clean is an absolute necessity.

If your skin is battling with any specific conditions, getting comfortable with it is the only solution until it heals. No matter what the world says, you should know that your worth is not based on how you look outside. Makeup does not promote that by any chance.

Having a good set of products that you will use is better than a stash of stuff that would just lay on your tabletop mindlessly. That, my friend, is called wastage.

With that cleared out, let's jump into the steps;

The base:-

The first step to a usual makeup look would be the face. Although the eyes shall be begun with, to give a sharper look, we aren't looking for that. So, the base forms a nice little first step.

Usually, the base includes the following products (in order of conventional application process):-

Primer: Used for achieving a smooth base, and to form a layer between skin and makeup. Common forms are gel and creme.

Foundation: Used to even out skin tone Common forms are liquid. More variety such as stick, powder, cream, mousse, cushion foundations coming into frequent use. Airbrushes are also prominent, but not commonly used by all.

Product recommendation

Concealer: Used to cover up any prominent "imperfections" such as dark circles or blemishes. Similar forms as Foundation.

Setting powder: Used to seal in all the cream products. Available in a powdery form, finely milled.

BB/CC/Tinted: Beauty Balm, Complex Cream, Tinted moisturizer. These are basically lighter for diluted forms of foundation. They are more or less similar. (we could write a blog about those if you want!)

Setting spray: Used as a top layer to give the base a sort of cohesive look, and to avoid cakiness. Liquids in spray form.

With the brief description of the products mentioned, we can now move ahead and pick what we REALLY need.

For most of us, a concealer and setting powder is preferred. Products like a setting spray are really not necessary for a daily look, so that's out of the list.

Most women also incline towards BB creams as they're lighter, and do not require heavy setting. I'd really recommend sticking to one or maybe two products max. I would consider a primer for my routine. As stated earlier, primers provide a smooth base. Most primers are clear and gel-like, so I can quickly apply a generous layer and be done with it. It helps me build a "foundation" for other products and lets my real skin show. This option is perfect for teens, no foundation, no setting, no tension. For people with oily skin, you could just use compact to blot the excess oil.

{Quick one for the beginners: Cream products are usually set with power to make sure they last longer, and to avoid the cosmetic changing colour. They're also used for absorbing the oil produced by the skin, thereby giving a matte finish.}

So base = Primer- Check!

The eyes:-

This has to be my favourite part! I think you could be the most creative with the eyes, and yet not look like a total burst of colours. This step can be tricky if you're going for a glamourous look, but for an everyday look, I don't think we're doing anything close to a cut crease.

Products include:

Eye primer: Used to create a smooth base and also make the eyeshadows last longer. These also make the pigments appear brighter and more vibrant.

Eyebrow products - pomade/pencil/cushion/powder/mascara: creamy consistency/ waxy and a little creamy/liquid that dries/eyeshadow - like but less pigmented/in a semi-liquid form, applied through spoolie. All these forms of eyebrow products help you to add definition, fill in and draw out eyebrows!! Easiest form - eyebrow pencil.

Product recommendation

Eyeshadow: fun coloured powders with several kinds of pigments. Usually available in powder or cream form.

Product recommendation

Eyeliner: Liquid/Gel forms available. Liquid in a pen form is extremely comfortable to use. This product is used to create an illusion effect on your eyes.

Product recommendation

Kajal/Kohl: The Indian lady's way to enhance their eyes! A black creamy product is used to line the waterline of the eye.

Product Recommendation

Mascara: For your lashes, to volumize and lengthen. In some cases, colour them too!

From the eyes, I'd suggest picking one - if you picked two in the base category; and two if you picked one in the base category. I'd completely recommend skipping on the eye primer for a natural look. Most people prefer using mascara and a kajal maybe. Both are very quick to use, and just a lovely combo. For some, they're already blessed with long luscious lashes, so they'd go for a neutral eyeshadow look (brown on the crease and a highlighting eyeshadow in the inner corner). I personally prefer going for an eyeliner. I know it's one of the most difficult tasks to manage, but I think it enhances my eyes! You could even use eyeshadow to create an eyeliner ( we could make a lifehacks blog too! ).

If you're a spectacles - wearer, I'd say go with eyebrows. They'd frame our face and highlight other parts of the face.

So eyes=eyeliner=Check!

The cheeks:-

The cheeks seem to be really complex, but with the right techniques and information, you could master it with ease.

Products include:

Blush: Flush tones that are applied either on the apples of the cheeks or just above the contour for a sharper look. Available in pinks oranges, peaches purples and reds. Cream, tint, powder, cushion forms are commonly found.

Contour: A technique to trick light itself! Used to create shadows and illusions for your face to appear structurally different. Available in powder, cream, cushion, and stick forms.

Highlighter: Not to be confused by the neon stationery items, these are shimmery or metallic powders in shades like gold/rose gold/champagne/silver etc. Applied on points of the face you want to highlight or give a glow to. Available in cream, jelly, powder, or liquid form.

Only three products! Woohoo! I'd say go with just one. Preferably highlighter or blush. Contours are usually tricky to master for a quick look, so I'd skip on that. Highlighters are incredible for the summers and blush for the winters. They give a golden glow or a softer look respectively. For me, blush is something I'd never skip. I think the right colour compliments my complexion and gives a lovely look, especially when applied around the nose!

Cheeks= Blush = Also check!

The lips:-

Lip products are probably the most used and known kind of product. The same product is available in form of lipsticks, glosses, crayons, liquid lipsticks etc. So instead of picking a formula, I'd say go with a shade. Finding the right shade is pretty easy if you know what blush shade works for you. Blush and lipsticks match to give a natural look. If you can't find the right shades, my best bet is to go online and look for reviews, videos and pictures of people with a similar skin tone as yours. Then it will be super easy to find your apt shade.

You could also go for lip balms if you don't want any "cosmetics" on your lips.

With a primer, eyeliner, blush and a lip balm- my routine is ready!!
