Keep Calm and Relax

My friends think I am a very calm and chilled-out person, but we all know that isn't true (Especially my family). As a person who gets angry about small things, I have picked a few techniques here and there to calm down. We all know the good old technique of taking a deep breath, but honestly, you don't really remember to do so (guilty). I’m going to be listing some things that help me relax or just simply calm down.

  1. Breathe:

Even though I don't follow this technique that often, it is really helpful. As Tracy McConnell (How I Met Your Mother) said “Before making any big decision just close your eyes and take three deep breaths” Deep breaths just work on many levels.

  1. Hum a song:

Sometimes distracting yourself just makes sense. I like to distract myself by humming or listening to a song. I know one might not always remember to actually hum a song, but trust me, it totally works

  1. Rant:

Instead of calming down, one might opt to rant. They wouldn’t be wrong, you know. Just letting out what small thing is making you so angry, makes sense. It can be a small detail for a perfectionist or a list of things over time. I would suggest just text or call a friend or family member and just rant away. You would feel much better, I promise.

  1. Talk to someone:

Talking to a loved one; like mother, father or sibling helps a lot. They know you the best and by that logic, they will for sure know how to calm you down. If you are mad about an incident at school, they will tell you to let the thing angering you go.

5.Observing Patterns: If u get angry frequently or maybe you're irritable, finding the root of the problem. What's something that drives you mad all the time. The basic principal is to try to know yourself. If it's the mess in the house- motivate yourself to stop piling up things. Since you know its going to end up into your loss! If it's a situation that is not under your control, knwoing that it's a waste of time is extremely necessary. Also, the finding your own ways and observing what calms you down is helpful too.

I know I am not the best person to tell you how to relax, but these are just some tips and tricks that help me calm down frequently. I also know that no one will remember to implement these, but if you do I really hope it helps you calm down.

We are only human. Anger is natural. But not letting it damage anything, and channeling your energy into something else will only benefit you.We are not perfect, but it's worth a try!
