Teaching as a student

Teaching has been my dream profession from my childhood. I would frequently teach my brother and cousins. I always wanted to teach a class. I got an opportunity to teach on the occasion of Teacher’s day of 5th September.

It all started when my class teacher, Ambily Miss, called on Sunday, 4th september. I straight forward said yes. I was so excited! By the afternoon, I received the textbook pages. I started working on my ppt. The entire evening went in making the ppt, practicing it and planning a game with Aditi. Both Of us had prepared ourselves very well. Even though it had gotten really late at night when we completed our presentations, I was sleepless; all the excitement and nervousness kept me awake.

The morning came and I woke up earlier than usual. My mind was lost in thinking about the class I had to take that day. I got ready and wore my kurti. Even though I did not believe in the fact that I should wear a kurti because I am a girl while the boys would wear shirts, I dressed up in the most beautiful kurti in my wardrobe. My excitement was so out of control that I joined the class by 9:30. But as I got in, my nervousness increased.

Soon it was 10. Adit was the first to teach. Mamta miss gave us a beautiful introduction and we were into teaching. Aditi, well versed with what she was to say, taught beautifully. After half an hour, it was my chance. The only thing that calmed me was the fact that I had got the best class. All the children had their camera on and all of them answered actively. I believe I taught well. After the teaching, Aditi and I were showered with praise. Their praises were very encouraging.

Now comes the most interesting part - the game. Aditi chose to present the screen and I hosted the game. Our choice of game, Scavenger hunt, was perfect. All the students were wholly dedicated to the game. They laughed, they competited and they were all so quick that i couldn't choose a winner!

By the end, things were on fire! Everyone was exhausted from bringing up things from the entire house and running around the house. Even the teacher was impressed. The students once again showered in praise and I felt very proud for ourselves.Aditi and I thanked the students for the dedication. Mamta Miss gave us a few wise words before leaving and I know that I will never forget them.

Truthfully, it were the students who rocked the stage. They were amazing. I will never forget them nor the one and half hour I spent with them.

This experience made me appreciate teachers and the deep importance of their job in our life. I couldn't express my thankfulness enough. I think this experience has made me believe that I can be a teacher!
