Sewing Project - A Coin Purse
As the intensity of the pandemic is lessening day by day, more things are opening up. For instance, schools, colleges, workplaces, etc. As these are gradually coming back to normal, daily travel is also increasing. The most local travel in India is the classic AUTO RICKSHAW.
Those people who travel by local transport daily know the importance of change. Wherever you may be travel, you might find yourself struggling to find random coins in the mess of your purse (I'm just assuming the mess part)
A perfect solution for this is a coin purse. You don’t need to go out and buy a coin purse. You can easily make one out of your old jeans
I am going to be telling you how to make a simple yet cute coin purse.
Material
First, you need the material, which is jeans. I'm not telling you to go and take the first jeans you find in your closet. NO-NO-NO. I'm telling you to take OLD JEANS of yours. I'm exaggerating this point because once I took a pair of jeans from my sister for cutting purposes. My mom knew that but my sister didn't, and when I showed her what I made out of her jeans (I made a couch caddy to hold the remote controls) she was surprised to see her jeans.
The moral of the story, take old jeans
Cutting
Now that you have your jeans, you are going to cut a 12-inch piece from the leg of the jeans.
After that, you are going to take marking chalk or pencil and a scale. Then mark a rectangle that is 8 x 3 inches in size. After you are done marking, cut out the rectangle with scissors. Be careful while cutting.
With this you will have to cut the zip of the jeans for your pouch, This is a little tricky. You have to simply cut it with scissors, but be sure that there is some cloth attached to the side of it so that it is easier to stitch to the rectangle.
Assembling
Now that you have your rectangle and zip, all that is left is stitching the purse.
Ok now read this carefully as it may appear a little confusing
First, take the zip and place it in front of you such that the zipper part is facing the table and the wrong side of the zip is facing you. Now take the rectangle and place it on the zip such that the wrong side of the fabric is facing you, and the fabric is covering the zip.
It should look something like this
Now stitch these two parts together and then repeat the same with the other side of this zip. After you are done it should look something like this.
Now all that is left is to stitch up the left and right sides of the pouch. After this is done, You can simply push the bottom of the pouch through the zip so that the right side of the fabric is visible and ready for use.
This is my final product
