Fashion Dos and Don'ts
Fashion & Beauty - Common Mistakes
With all the possibilities we fashionistas have been exploring, it seems almost overwhelming at this point. Endless possibilities, a variety of styles, and to add to that, an enormous rule book to follow, one is bound to end up in a neon jumpsuit! Not only that, trends are changing as fast as the climate is. Trends are dependent on time. Yesterday, vests and low-waists were cool, today turtlenecks and skirts are the thing. When did fashion become academic? We’ve often made guides for you to learn more about mix ‘n’ match, but do you see yourself relying on these blogs for every outfit. That just seems impracticable. The resources on the internet might help you analyse your style and act as guidelines, but no one will review every outfit for you. So what do we do? Just follow what not to do while styling, and trust me, that list is pretty short.

Personal Style: This is the universal solution to all “everyday fashion queries”. A “uniform” as I like to call it, with a variety of options that replace one another. When you identify your preferences, life becomes easier. The experimentation does get limited on a daily level. However, this option works best for the ones who wish to feel their best while looking chic. This topic was further explored in this post, so we highly recommended you check that out. If we could summarise, a personnel style will help you,
Achieve a look that makes you feel comfortable.
A proper colour palette that makes pairing easy.
It will have a certain criterion, making styling easy.
This would result in a safer and less messy situation.
The Baggy Rule: You might have noticed how your outfit looks odd if you pair more than two items of the same looseness ( if you know, you know). One thing I always check is to balance it out. If I am wearing flared pants, I prefer a fitted top. You can’t go wrong with this thumb rule.
Trends: Y2K was a recent trend the took off on the feeds of every fashion influencer. If you’re uninformed of what I’m talking about, Y2K refers to early 2000s fashion. That means cowl necks, low waist pencil skirts and an array of prints. Now we all like to check these trends out and explore different genres. However, we must find a way to incorporate these trends while looking fabulous. When something like that catches your eye, you must take it in limited doses. It may be a trendy jacket or fun shoes. That introduces us to the concept of statement pieces.
Let us take the help of an example. You got a pair of silver Jhumkaas, and they are your absolute favourite. You’ve finally got an opportunity to wear them. You tie your hair in a bun to show off those dangling beauties. We want you to focus on the bun analogy. When you have something that you think needs attention, you constantly talk about it. But you don’t have to do the talking if you style it well. Pick one item and make it the “star of the show. Keep the rest of the outfit muted. This trick ensures that you’re never overdressed and feel your best.
Accessories- Keep it simple. Over-accessorising often makes a look overcrowded. Sticking to similar tones and choosing the right ones is the trick. With accessories, make sure you:
Have a colour palette
Do not accessories every body part, give some space.
Either wear one/two statement accessories or several dainty ones.
Match them with one element (if accessories are coloured), for example, bag, shoes, details on clothes etc.
Make sure you can jump, skip and move without worrying about losing any piece

Makeup - Fashion & Beauty have always gone hand-in-hand. Your makeup completes a look, but it isn't necessary. If one wishes to use some, please keep in mind to have some connection to the outfit. Neutral looks are my best bet. But a lip colour here and there won't hurt. Even red lips can be statements. Stick to a theme.
With that, all the gyaan is taken in. Now repeat after me: “Sunflower, I get it. I won’t wear green socks and red stilettos together. I will keep in mind that personnel style is important and that to avoid fashion police, we must follow guidelines. We will keep in mind that at the end of the day, fashion is supposed to be fun and we can play with stilettos and socks (separately).”
