Marks

Bad Morning. It’s time to dress up. Drag yourself to the bathroom. Wear that hideous and ill-fitting uniform. Pack your bag. Head out with Ma. It’s result day. Every atom of your body is nervous. Your mind is only revolving around the worst-case scenarios. “Did I perform well enough in History?” “What if I fail, and Neha passes? Or worse- she is the topper and I missed it by a mark?” “Why can’t my papers just disappear?”   Hello, and welcome to the nightmare of every Indian teenager ever! That was my situation on Saturday. Result Days are always nerve-racking experiences. It’s the same kind of anxiety you get on the day of the exam, except that this one has wilder fantasies. Why is that so? Because marks are a dominating factor in an Indian’s lifetime. The numbers determine your future. Your value is lies within those numbers.  Now, when you look at it from an Indian Aunty’s perspective, this system sounds quite fair. The able ones go ahead, get what they deserve, beca...

extraordinary to ordinary to extraordinary again!

Isn't it almost the law of nature how the people living in the mountains often seem to find the mountains, the mist, and the calmness pretty boring. Meanwhile, the city folk cant wait to get away to small town. the ocean is just another entity living for the fishermen.its pretty awesome (and sad) how the little extraordinary(s) in our life become the things we consider ordinary and something that is just going to be there forever.  The banyan tree you seen at the complex's circle, the one you have passed by forever. doesn't a time come where you forget to appreciate its majestic branches and the way the roots hand silently leaning towards the road. the  glorious view to the ever busy highway seems just another noisey place when you have seen it long enough. Isnt is unfortunate how all of the extraordinary in our life seem more than ordinary for us. I think this also works on people. We have seen our parents make sacrifices, work forever and toil just to make us happy. we...

Ethnic Wear Part 2 (Desi Girl Era)

Image
The college season has officially settled in. We’re also expecting festivities to begin later next month. Thus, I thought this would be the perfect time to upload a part 2 to the desi wear blog . Furthermore, I absolutely love making these collections! This time, we’ll take a step ahead by applying the pieces we learned about previously to daily life. The last blog was concentrated on Indian wear. Now, we’re stepping into indo-western ideas. This involves mixing up closet basics with Indian wear. We would love to inspire college ootds, a date outfit or even a party look with the following suggestions. 1. White – Tee Obsessions: My white T-shirt is the most worn article in my closet. I could survive on nearly every occasion with a white T-shirt. For the outfits below, I have paired them with a comfortable pair of Indian pyjamas. They are breathable and easy-breezy. This particular pair of bottoms has been stolen from a kurta set. A pretty embroidered bag, a pair of kol...

The Wounded Flower

The Wounded Flower I could see her coming running towards me. Like every day, she was late, frustrated, cursing under her breath and tired. Her eyes were gorgeous, one for which you would die, but something had died in her eyes as well. Her face was richly decorated with beautiful features, something that looked like tears were steadily washing away.  ‘Sorry Dear, can’t even promise I’ll try not to be late next time' ‘Well, you are early than you usually are Naina!’  She chuckled and muttered something about being able to dodge some punches. Something she would not repeat if asked to. She finally handed me her purse, umbrella, bag, everything other than the mental load she was carrying, and took the moment to pull her sleeves to her wrist. I pretended not to notice the unusual purple on her arms and the red knuckles. It was better to keep quiet about it than to hear her terrible excuses about how she fell down the stairs while playing with her Atul-‘love of life’-Patil. ...

Ways to Shower Love on Birthdays! ( Surprises and Gifts! )

RICHA'S BIRTHDAY IS IN A WEEK??? I AM SO NOT PREPARED.  It's always lovely to remind someone that they're loved. We might not make the time to do it everyday, but we must take birthdays as an opportunity to do the same.  Everyone expects to have a blast on birthdays. Except the ones who play it cool and say " It's just another day". Perhaps it is, but who doesn't love some extra attention.  It's also a struggle to maintain the fun every year. Honestly, it's difficult to find unique ideas that the receiver actually enjoys. However, some things pass the test of time.  Therefore, Sunflowerness brings you a fun list of ideas that you could try for your friends, family, neighbour, colleagues, etc.  1. Daily Wishes There's always the usual countdown you could perform for your loved one. It takes just a few seconds to type out a warm and vivid text for them. These little reminders over the week uplift their spirits for their special day. A good idea i...

No Tool Nails ( Extremely Easy )

Image
The summer season calls for vibrancy. Let's take some of that sunny brightness and give it to our nails. Why have plain boring nails with your gorgeous outfits? Let the aesthetic flow down to your fingernails .  One could find many complex yet cool nail art over on Pinterest. However, for someone like me, it's a disastrous experience. I find myself smudging the nail paint on the sofa or chipping them off. Painting the design, and waiting for it to dry can get exhausting. It's true pain to see an intricate design go to complete waste.  This collection of easy, no tool, and basic nail art can really add an "umph" to your OOTDs. Any oops and accidents can be fixed in seconds, due to their artistic simplicity.  I've used basic drugstore nail polish. The better the formula, the easy it is to "nail" these designs. ( pun intended ) The trick is to have a stable hand, and sufficient nail polish on the brush. Don't go too far or make it too scanty. Pick s...

Daily Habits for Happy Skin

Every moment of passing time spent defines the larger outcome. I have observed that miniscule but consistent efforts have the power to bring a gargantuan change. This principle could be applied even in the realm of skincare. To achieve something, we must involve all its elements in our lifestyle. Thus, this blog brings simple skin care practices to include in daily routines.  Missing some basics can lead to unwanted skincare problems. Perhaps a slight switch could alter your skincare game altogether. Use this blog as a checklist the next time you're in front of the sink. I hope you learn something new.  1. 60- second cleanse.  The most basic step is to always have a clean face. In the age of rising pollution, it has become essential to wash our faces. However, we often look over it. I believe a proper cleanse could help clear your skin significantly. Having said that, I do not advocate excess scrubbing. Washing your face at most twice a day is enough. It is how you wash i...
